FNC Community Learning Farm at The Lighthouse

Founded in 2012, this farm was made possible with generous support from Health Partners, the official sponsor for the Lighthouse farm. Located on 15 acres owned by the Lighthouse, another Federation member, this farm is being integrated into the sporting programs that the Lighthouse has conducted since the late 1800s.

The Lighthouse Farm has been growing expanding each year since its beginnings. On the farm there is a pollination garden, beehive and fruit orchard. In 2014, Teens 4 Good installed a hoop house at the Lighthouse Farm. The Teens 4 Good farm at the Lighthouse also helps provide healthy lunches for the head start program at Light House’s main site.

Teens 4 Good also helps manage the lighthouse Rooftop Garden in partnership with Light House staff. The Rooftop Garden is a way to get the Head Start youth to see where healthy food comes from and how to grow it. Each classroom at the Lighthouse Community Center has a vegetable bed/plot. The students help plant and take care their classroom’s bed.
